SOUL ON SOUL is the story that — based on number of feedbacks — resonated the most with my readers. Basically just a conversation that Mulder and Scully have over a cup of coffee as they work through recent obstacles on their mutual journey. This one focuses on the events of Milagro, particularly what went on during the last scene with our heroes. (Time-wise, it takes place after their brief hospital stay coming off the Field Trip episode.)
What would be the first words exchanged between Mulder and Scully as she clung to him in the aftermath of that attack by the supposedly dead Brazilian psychic surgeon?? Would Padgett's declaration that "Agent Scully is already in love" influence her in any way?
And in the following days, would it be fair to say that that brief moment of vulnerability would be compensated for by a more controlled and reserved Agent Scully?
On the other side of the table (literally, in my story), what would Mulder think about his partner's fascination with the wild and crazy dudes? Would he wonder to himself if he might somehow be failing her as a potential companion?
All good questions. I asked them and then I answered them in this story.
